Earlier this week an area resident and runner planned his sixth personal commemoration of Patriot’s Day. On the actual anniversary of the Revolutionary era historic events, McHugh sets out at 9:30 PM from the location of Joseph Warren’s home office toward the Hancock-Clarke House in Lexington. As described in a previous post, Dr. Joseph Warren dispatched Paul Revere and William Dawes on the Midnight Ride between 9:30 and 10:00 PM on April 18, 1775.
With all the disruptions in the Boston area this week, we wondered whether Mr. McHugh had any success with his own Boston Mini-Marathon.
He writes: “The run was great! The weather was beautiful and I ran with my colleague Jonathan Dowse. We ran the first 10 miles at 7 minute/mile pace and got home [very late Thursday evening, April 18, 2013] just before the latest round of craziness began. I’ve been home under lockdown all day [Friday].”
Huzzah! How do you like those Warren (aka Roxbury) Russet apples? I do believe that Michael McHugh and his friend carried forth the true spirit of Patriots’ Day this week.
